Abstract

In 1996, Roberto Ortíz Giacomán created the first exhibition on the history of local photography, which compiled the first photographs taken in Monterrey from 1800 onwards. Some of the photographers included in this exhibition were: José S. Ortiz, Mauricio Yáñez, Alberto Flores Varela; 19th century photographers, such as Sabas Treviño, Alfonso de Lagrange, Desiderio de Lagrange and Nicolas Rendón; and in contemporary photography: Aristeo Jiménez, Javier “Venny” Sánchez, Marcos Méndez, Roberto Maldonado Espejo, Juan Llaguno, Erick Estrada, Juan José Cerón, Javier Orozco and of course, Roberto Ortíz Giacomán.
